Soldier

Upon entry to our new premises you are certain to notice the exhibited door featuring a soldier on guard. This symbolic guardian relates to the building's history; it originated in Vodice, dating from 1782 and is part of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum's collections

The Slovene Ethnographic Museum is a national museum institution with cultural, scientific and educational contents.
The central ethnological museum, the fruit of matured ethnological and anthropological thought in Slovenia.
The oldest Slovene ethnological institution, founded in 1923.

A museum with collections of national and European importance that bear witness to traditional culture in Slovenia and, primarily, to the everyday life of the peasant population, but also a museum that can pride itself on some equally important non-European collections.

A museum of cultural identities; a link between past and present; between traditional and contemporarz culture, between nature and civilisation, between our culture and foreign cultures.
